Pairing up with the RNLI

Since their foundation in 1824, the RNLI and their brave lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 140,000 lives. To show our praise to the dedication of the charity we’ll be supporting the courageous work of the Royal National Lifeboats Institution charity and its outstanding volunteers from 30th May to 9th July.

The RNLI save lives in British and Irish water by providing a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, water safety education and initiatives and flood rescue response.

To support them, we’ve created a bespoke menu of fish dishes and will be offering a 50p donation to each dish sold during the campaign. We’ll also be offering gin lovers a chance to support that cause by donating 10p from every Plymouth G&T sold.

Keep up with what we're doing to help via this page, our app, social media and our news & offers.

The RNLI relies heavily on donations to enable their ordinary volunteers to continue to do extraordinary things by saving lives at sea. Their goal is to continue their Respect the Water campaign, which is at the heart of the RNLI’s drowning prevention work and half accidental coastal deaths by 2024.

However, despite their best efforts, every year around 190 people die in British and Irish waters - and over half who drown never intended on entering the water.

What do the RNLI do?

The RNLI save lives in the UK and Ireland by providing a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service for the public.

There are over 350 lifeboats in the RNLI fleet based at their stations around the UK and Ireland. Between them, RNLI lifeboats cover 19,000 miles of coastline and some busy inland stretches of water.

They also have over 100 lifeboats in their relief fleet, ready to temporarily replace station lifeboats whenever they require regular or emergency maintenance.

Festival of Fish

To help support this fantastic organisation we've put together a brand new Festival of Fish menu available from 31st May until 9th July. This new menu offers exlusive and delicious seafood dishes from traditional Fish & Chips to Grilled Salmon Nicoise Salad and Soft Shell Crab.

For each meal that is sold, we will donate 50p to our brilliant life saving partners. Similarly, for each Plymouth G&T consumed, 10p will be donated.

RNLI Partnership Campaign Launch Event

On 31st May we held our RNLI partnership campaign launch event where we invited guests, Nicholson's members and the RNLI along to learn about the Respect the Water campaign, hear safety tips from the operational crew as well as sample our new Festival of Fish menu.
