FOOD AND BEER PAIRINGS AT Bunch of Grapes

We’ve collaborated with beer sommelier Ed Hughes at Sharps in Cornwall to bring you the perfect food and beer pairings just in time for the release of our new menu — available from May 2019.

Nicholson's Steak Pie

Steak Pie & Nicholson’s Pale Ale

Not only has our pie just won gold at the British Pie awards, but it also happens to be the perfect match to our very own Nicholson’s Pale Ale. The sweetness of the malt carries through the pie, with a bitterness from the hops which cleanses the palate.

Ocean Fish and Chips & Doom Bar

Our authentic British Fish & Chips pairs perfectly with Doom Bar’s wonderfully balanced amber ale. This pairing works so well because of the balance in the flavours, from the delicate haddock and scampi through to the slight acidity of the tartar sauce, Doom Bar’s barley sweetness then carries through the rest of the dish.

Signature Nicholson’s Burger & St Stefanus

Our delicious signature burger needs a seriously big beer to balance its huge flavours. Ed pairs our burger with the rich and intense St. Stefanus, a 7% Belgian Blonde — “a beer strong enough to deal with all the different flavours”.

Toad in the Hole & Camden Hells

Our hearty Toad in the Hole is best enjoyed with a lighter lager to balance the richness of our British pork sausages and balsamic caramelised onion gravy. That's why we'd recommend the mildly sweet and apricot-tinted Camden Hells makes this the perfect pairing.
