Pairing up with the RNLI


Since their foundation in 1824, the RNLI and their brave lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 140,000 lives. To show our praise to the dedication of the charity we’ll be supporting the courageous work of the Royal National Lifeboats Institution charity this summer.

The RNLI save lives in British and Irish water by providing a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, water safety education and initiatives and flood rescue response.

We’re supporting them by donating 50p from each Ocean Fish and Chips dish we sell to the RNLI. Be sure to come down your local Nicholson's and show your support by getting stuck into one of our meals!

The RNLI relies heavily on donations to enable their ordinary volunteers to continue to do extraordinary things by saving lives at sea. Their goal is to continue their Respect the Water campaign, which is at the heart of the RNLI’s drowning prevention work and half accidental coastal deaths by 2024.

However, despite their best efforts, every year around 190 people die in British and Irish waters - and over half who drown never intended on entering the water.

What do the RNLI do?

The RNLI save lives in the UK and Ireland by providing a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service for the public. 

There are over 350 lifeboats in the RNLI fleet based at their stations around the UK and Ireland. Between them, RNLI lifeboats cover 19,000 miles of coastline and some busy inland stretches of water.

They also have over 100 lifeboats in their relief fleet, ready to temporarily replace station lifeboats whenever they require regular or emergency maintenance.

RNLI Partnership Campaign Launch Event

On 31st May we held our RNLI partnership campaign launch event where we invited guests, Nicholson's members and the RNLI along to learn about the Respect the Water campaign, hear safety tips from the operational crew as well as sample our new Festival of Fish menu.
