Welcome in winter the Derbyshire way
Last Christmas, we brought you the dark, warming & earthy Wild Holly, which was a firm favourite in our cask ale range. The popular Derbyshire beer, for many, will rekindle fond nostalgia of the crisp winter cold with it’s comforting taste.
Produced by the award-winning Thornbridge brewery in the heart of the Peak District, the limited edition festive exclusive was brewed in collaboration with Nicholson’s Cask Masters & pub managers five years ago.
Wild Holly was crafted with six different malts, infused with soft hints of caramel, roast coffee & ginger, making it a great comforter on a cold winter’s evening — it’s no surprise to us that it was a staple on our bars during the winter months.
With its bitter-sweet finish, Wild Holly became the perfect accompaniment to many of our winter favourites, such as our Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie, Gloucester Old Spot Sausages, or classic Sunday roast.
Thornbridge continues to create cask beers using traditional recipes with modern twists through the use of multiple hops, malts and the innovation and passion of its brewing team.
At Nicholson’s, we’re huge advocates of cask ale, continually on the lookout for new quality brews that satisfy every palate and complement the seasonal dishes we serve.
This year, look out for a festive beer that’s new to Nicholson’s – St Austell Brewery’s ‘Proper Cracker’!
