Greyfriars Bobby's Bar
30-34 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh, EH1 2QE 0131 225 8328
Greyfriars Bobby’s Bar is located in the heart of Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh in Candlemaker Row. As one of the most photographed pubs in Scotland, you’ll find us within a short stroll of Chambers Street, Grassmarket and George IV Bridge.
Our pub is inspired by the tale of Edinburgh’s most famous dog, Greyfriars Bobby, so it’s no surprise that we love dogs and we’re proud to be a dog-friendly pub.
You’ll find a plethora of Edinburgh’s most iconic attractions near you, including The National Museum of Scotland, Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh University, and of course the Statue of Greyfriars Bobby.
Nicholson’s Pubs are known for their individual style, exciting stories, and charming personalities — and Greyfriars Bobby's Bar is certainly no exception.
Occupying the ground floor of a row of Georgian houses, Greyfriars Bobby’s Bar adjoins the historic Candlemakers' Hall, built-in 1722. Our name is inspired by an Edinburgh legend of a scruffy Skye terrier called Bobby. When his owner died in 1858, Bobby faithfully watched over his grave and was buried alongside his master in the Greyfriars Kirkyard in 1872.
Our breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus offer everything you’d expect to find on any respectable, British pub menu, and so much more besides. Boasting an array of delicious sharers, through to classic main dishes, and succulent burgers, there’s a selection to suit every appetite.
Greyfriars Bobby's Bar is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of iconic and great British pubs — held in the highest of regards for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
We don’t have a pub garden but at Greyfriars Bobby's Bar we do have a small urban outdoor space for you to enjoy a drink, some food and a great atmosphere.
