Nicholson’s Pubs are known for their individual style, exciting stories, and charming personalities — and The Victoria Comet is certainly no exception.
The building that houses The Victoria Comet has been used as a pub since the 1800s — in fact, it once housed two pubs, The Victoria on the left, and The Comet on the right. Eventually, the two merged, and became The Victoria and Comet Hotel. The pub closed 75 years later but after some restoration, The Victoria Comet is back to its former glory and was named as such in homage to its glorious past.
Our pub is well known for appearing in the cult gangster film classic ‘Get Carter’, as the first stop for Michael Caine’s hitman character when he arrives in Newcastle — come and see for yourself!
