We’re always looking for new ways to better the environmental impact of our pubs, and although we’re proud of the work we’ve done so far, but we know how much more there still is to do. Every day, we continue to make small changes that we hope will have a long-lasting impact on our planet.
We are extremely thrilled to announce that our parent company Mitchells & Butlers has been awarded Best Sustainable Pub Company 2022! This acknowledgement is a result of the ongoing work and innovation across our pubs, including furniture recycling schemes, Go Green initiatives to help reduce carbon emissions; the introduction of plant-based items, and concerted efforts to reduce energy consumption, recycle more and waste less.
We work with a number of conscious drinks partners who are helping to build a more sustainable future. Our friends at Fever-Tree are proud to be carbon neutral in the UK, and are actively protecting biodiversity in the regions they source ingredients from. We also are delighted to serve Sipsmith, who have met the highest standards of social and environmental performance and have been certified a B Corp.
For every Ocean Fish & Chips we sell, we donate 50p to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity who believe home is a human right. Shelter provide aid and advice to millions of people facing homelessness and experiencing unfit housing, helping to turn lives around. We raised over £30,000 in 2023 and are proud to continue to support their fight for a safe home for everyone.
Over the Festive period, we also worked with Social Bite, a charitable movement whose mission involves offering homes, job opportunities, food, and vital support to empower people to transform their own lives. Thanks to the generosity of guests, we raised £19,116 for the worthy cause.
